Dan's Work

After a few months of settling I am getting pretty busy with a number of projects.

I am enrolled at Grand Valley State University in their Master's of Public administration course. I am interested in the non-profit management concentration. Currently I am taking Grant writing, Research Methods, and Economic Development as my classes for the semester. Most of them are pretty interesting, though in terms of subject matter, probably the Economic class is most up my alley. Right now I am working on a Downtown Muskegon and Muskegon Main Street websites.

I am working 20 hours a week as a Graduate Assistant for the Johnson Center for Philanthropy which is housed at GVSU also. Specifically, I work on a website that is an interesting project to make available relevant data to the citizens of the West Michigan region.

I also have some other commitments that keep me busy in my spare time.

In the fall I started to help to found a nonprofit organization that we envision to help people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This is definitely an exciting project as it combines a lot of my interests to hopefully achieve something good for people in need. The organization is called Congo International Ministries. A number of the people I am working with are actually from the Congo and we are exploring ways to help people in that war torn country. Definitely check out our website and find out more.

I am managing the content for the CRWRC website. Not a big job, but kind of interesting to see what knowledge is being shared within that organization. Check it out here. Click the What's New tab to see recent additions.

Finally, another website. I am the content manager for my dad's church website.

So as you can see I am keeping busy and staying out of trouble.
